Diamond Cosmetic’s Holiday 2009 Collection

A box containing the Diamond Cosmetic’s Holiday Collection arrived to my house the day I left for Florida. I gasped when I opened the package and saw Blue Diamonds and Amethyst and Diamonds, and before running out the door to catch my flight, I hurried to share these goodies by posting a pic of all four on Twitter:

From left to right: Diamond’s Diamonds, Blue Diamonds, Amethyst and Diamonds and Rubies and Diamonds. Aren’t they so pretty!?

Although the blue and purple wowed me, the first one I wore was Diamond’s Diamonds:

My skin looks terribly pale with Diamond’s Diamonds, a silvery-white sparkly glitter Diamond suggests would be great for layering. I should have taken their suggestion. But it doesn’t look terribly bad on my skin in this photo:

It is a great work-appropriate holiday color if you want to wear it alone, and it came off very easily despite being a glitter!

The ring on my pointer finger, by the way, is one I wear everyday and feel naked without. The ring on my ring finger is a rather new acquisition; the stone is called Druzy. I couldn’t find much info on the Internet about Druzy, but I found this. The stone shimmers different colors – blue, purple, teal, gold and black depending on how you look at it! I am in love with gemstones and crystalized rocks, etc. :) And, as you may notice since I featured one of my funky rings yesterday, I love funky rings :)

Amethyst and Diamonds:

Amethyst and Diamonds is a “grape purple enhanced with rainbow glitter that pops in the sunlight,” according to Diamond. SO TRUE! This is a great color. It’s not holographic but the microglitter is to be, so it’s more subtle than a holo and absolutely gorgeous in the sun! Like a rainbow shimmery purple bows on top of a box wrapped in green foil Christmas paper! (Am I alone in thinking green and purple go great together?! :) )

Blue Diamonds is “a shocking blue glitter loaded with sparkle and shine,” Diamond says. This also has that rainbow glitter, and looks amazing in the sun. Diamond says “It’s a fun color that looks wonderful with your snowman!” Indeed! It will also look nice on my fingers when my hands are wrapped around a warm cup of hot chocolate after such snowman building :)

What holiday collection is complete until you have a red?! Rubies and Diamonds is “somewhere between a pink and red and loaded with red glitter,” Diamond says. It also has a bit of golden shimmer to it too.

All of the above swatches were two coats of polish.

In case you’re wondering how Rubies and Diamonds compares to some of the reds in the OPI Holiday Wishes collection, I did a quick comparison of Diamond’s color with Crimson Carol and Dear Santa, which in the bottle appeared most similar:

Rubies and Diamonds is definitely lighter than the other OPI polishes. For Rubies and Diamonds I used three coats compared to two coats for the OPI colors.

So there you go! I love these new Diamond colors, although I probably would have skipped Rubies and Diamonds! What about you?

These are retailing for $2.50 on Diamond’s web site. You can buy them individually here, or buy all four of them as a special – you also get Diamond’s new matte top coat and everything is in a clear vinyl bag at the cost of $15.

What do you think friends!?! Blue Diamonds and Amethyst and Diamonds are the two winners for me!

  1. They’re really pretty polishes but I’m going to skip them. They look fantastic on you. Have a wonderful Thanksgiving.

  2. I have to have blue diamonds! That is such a me colour! It’s going straight on my list of HAVE TO HAVE!! The amethyst and diamonds looks good too. They all look good :)
I used to wear a ring like the one on your pointer finger. I absolutely loved it but one day I somehow got it completely lodged, my finger swelled up and there was no option but to cut it off! The ring that is, not my finger! I was gutted.

  3. I think I’m going to pass on these shades since they’re not very “me,” but they look great on you… Blue Diamonds especially!
