Breast Cancer and Depression Awareness

I’m officially off vacation with my bestie in Florida, and have started an intensive work trip the next few days! So I’ve scheduled some posts because I had so much I wanted to share! This post is just kinda on the heels of my earlier housekeeping post this week. Please forgive me if I am lax on responding to comments! I will definitely respond but it may take more time than usual.

It’s something I’m waaaaaaay late to the party for; Breast Cancer and Depression Awareness Month. This was so, like, last month. I know!

I held off on writing my post because I submitted a few questions to my OPI contact inquiring about their involvement with raising breast cancer awareness. I never heard back, and therefore, my post got pushed back from my wait. I had hoped to do something like what I did for Ovarian Cancer Awareness Month.

By the way, this is what’s on tap for November:

  • National Adoption Awareness Month
  • American Diabetes Month
  • Lung Cancer Awareness Month
  • Prematurity Awareness Month
  • National Epilepsy Awareness Month
  • Pancreative Cancer Awareness Month
  • COPD Awareness Month
  • Alzheimer’s Awareness Month
  • National Novel Writing Month

Wowsers.

My interest was renewed in writing about breast cancer awareness when I saw the China Glaze three-pack called One in Three:

I had deferred from ordering it online, but in person I loved the box - it had random breast cancer and prevention facts on each side of it – and I like pinks (you can’t go wrong with pinks on my skin tone), so I picked it up. That was only a couple days, actually, before the end of October. So I’ll show you the swatches from this three-pack, as well as a swatch of OPI’s Pink of Hearts 2009. Think of this as a pretty pink post!

First up is from the China Glaze collection, Diva Bride:

I used a hot pink nail art lacquer for the breast cancer ribbon and two tear-drop-shaped rhinestones on my ring fingers. I actually DID wear this mani during October!

And for Depression Awareness, I link you back to the wonderful Scrangie’s post for good information and photos. I struggled with depression less than 10 years ago, and it’s debilitating. I wrote about it in the newspaper column I wrote in my mid-20s, and I was surprised how many readers wrote to me in relation to what I said. It’s a serious issue.

Ok. Now that I’m all caught up on the things I shoulda, coulda, woulda, Monday it’s back to regularly scheduled programming! Thanks all!

  1. I’m looking forward to Lung Cancer awareness post…. Can I help with that?? :) love you cuz

  2. Are you on vacation in Florida? Or are you doing a work project? Confusing. I think I bought the Cina Glaze from last year. I don’t like the really sheer polish. The rest are really nice.

    • I spent Thurs-Sat morning visiting my best firend who lives in Florida, and now I’m on business for the rest of my time here. Yeah, although Diva Bride is work appropriate, I’d rather wear someting like barefoot in Barcelona, which is what I’m wearing today!

  3. These are really beautiful pinks, I might get this set for my sister :) she loves pinks.
